|
A man police have been searching for following the discovery of the body of a woman in a wheelie bin has come forward.
German-born Peter Wallner, 33, had not been seen since he moved out of Hamilton Avenue in Cobham, Surrey, where the body was found on Saturday.
Mr Wallner was staying with his 23-year-old partner Lilia Fenech and her family in Malta when he became aware police wanted to speak to him.
He contacted officers on Tuesday and is making arrangements to voluntarily return to the UK as soon as possible.
Det Ch Insp Maria Woodall said: "We appreciate the assistance of the media and the public in helping us locate Mr Wallner.
"He has now made contact with us and is keen to return to the UK to help us in our investigation."
The body of an unidentified white woman in her 30s is thought to have been in the bin for three weeks before it was found.
A post mortem carried out on the woman's body at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guilford found the victim had suffered significant head injury. However, the results proved inconclusive as to the cause of the death.
