Father Denies Teenage Daughter Murder

The father of a teenager whose remains were discovered in woodland in East Sussex, has appeared in court today.

Tony Couchman, 45, of Beecham Place, St Leonards, denies murdering 19-year-old Victoria Couchman between May 15 and May 18 last year.

Couchman also denied perverting the course of justice between 18 October last year and 17 April 2009 in connection with the murder investigation during the brief hearing at Lewes Crown Court.

He had originally been arrested after children playing in Redgeland Wood in the Queensway area of St Leonards, near Hastings, found a skull in October.

Medical records were used to identify them as those of mother-of-one Ms Couchman.

The 45-year-old was remanded in custody until an administrative hearing at the court on 4 December.
