'Outrage' Over PSNI Killing
Ireland's political parties have united in condemnation of the killing of a PSNI officer on Monday night in Co Armagh.
Police say the shooting happened on Monday night at Lismore Manor, Craigavon, County Armagh, at about 9.45pm.
The incident comes just 48 hours after two soldiers were shot by the Real IRA in Antrim.
Two officers were responding to a call to assist a distressed woman in the area, and one was shot and hit in the head, later dying from his wounds. He was said to be an experienced officer, well known in the area, and was married with children.
He is the first policeman to be murdered in Northern Ireland since 1997.
Taoiseach Brian Cowen said it was with deep sadness and disgust that he learnt of what he called the despicable murder of a policeman as he was doing his duty in serving the community.
The Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny offered his support to the Government in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
He said: "This murder is a despicable outrage by a tiny minority which is determined to undermine civil society.
"This miniscule group of people cannot and will not be allowed to destroy the peace that everyone in society benefits from. Fine Gael will support the Government and policing authorities in all their efforts to bring these killers to justice."
Condemnation of the murder also came from the Labour Party who said the actions were not representative of the will of Republicanism.
The Labour Member of the European Parliament, Proinsias De Rossa, said: "No organisation, no matter what it calls itself, has the right to kill anyone in our name, in pursuit of any political objective, either on this island or anywhere else."

Jury Hears Phone Call Made By Paul Byrne As Wife Stabs Him To Death
A jury today heard a 999 phone call made by the late Paul Byrne, crying for help as his wife stabbed him to death. The engineer, 48, told the operator, "My wife is stabbing me", "She is trying to kill me". Mr Byrne was stabbed over 60 times by Tanya Doyle at their home in Pairc Gleann Trasna, Aylesbury, on 4th September 2009.

Fline Gael Call For Full-time Limerick Garda Commissioner
Following the weekend's gang murder of an innocent man in Limerick, the Fine Gael Justice Spokesman has called for a full-time Assistant Garda Commissioner to be introduced in Limerick. TD Charlie Flanagan also called for tougher sentences to be implemented, and called for a minimum 25 year sentences for murder.
