Robbers Jailed For 21 Years

Three men who committed a series of cash in transit robberies across north east London, amassing over £300,000, have been jailed for a total of 21 years.

Richard Agyemang, 21, of Alfred Road W2 was sentenced to seven years and nine months

Martin Danquah, 19, of Woolwich Manor Way E16 was sentenced to six-and-a-half-years and Nana Wallace, 20, of LeamingtonGardens, Ilford was sentenced to seven years.

Danquah was additionally sentenced to two-and-a-half years for possession with intent to supply heroin. Sentences are to run concurrently.

The three were jailed at Snaresbrook Crown Court after pleading guilty on 4 January to conspiracy to commit cash in transit robberies between August 2008 and July 2009.

The indictment encompassed 23 cash in transit robberies. Agyemang pleaded guilty to all offences within the conspiracy; Danquah and Wallace pleaded guilty to eight offences within the conspiracy dates.

A fourth man - Muanza Da Silva, 22, of Tiptree Crescent, Ilford - pleaded guilty at Snaresbrook Crown Court on 21 September 2009 to conspiracy to commit cash in transit robberies and was jailed for seven-and-a-half years.

Da Silva pleaded guilty to two offences within the conspiracy dates. He was also convicted of an additional eight offences committed independently between 20 October 2008 and 29 November 2008.

The convictions follow a successful investigation led by the MPS North East Flying Squad (SCD7).

Detectives investigated 23 cash in transit robberies committed over a 12-month period between August 2008 and July 2009.

Supermarkets, post offices and petrol stations were targeted in Stratford, CanningTown, Ilford, Barking, Tottenham, Plaistow, Walthamstow, Chadwell Heath. A total of two offences were also committed in Richmond and Hounslow.

On each occasion, the suspects concealed their faces to commit their crime, approaching guards as they made deliveries/collections during the early hours of the morning.

The suspects would 'rush' the guard, taking the cash box before fleeing in a waiting vehicle.

Weapons were not seen or used in connection with these robberies, however, minor physical injuries were inflicted. The suspects had access to firearms, which were recovered during the investigation.

Jail For 'Prolific' Manchester Offender
A 22-year-old Manchester man has been jailed for two and a half years for a series of offences. Aaron Ainsley of Palgrave Avenue, Monsall, committed the majority of his 12 crimes within a three month period, Greater Manchester Police said. Ainsley pleaded guilty charges including burglary, aggravated taking of a vehicle and dangerous driving.
