UK Unemployment Falls

Unemployment in the UK has fallen by some 57,000 in the three months May, new figures show.

The total figure now stands at 2.51 million, holding steady at 7.8%.

New figures from the Office of National Statistics show that the number of people claiming jobseekers allowance in June also feel, dropping by 21,200 to 1.48 million.

The total number of people in employment now stands at 29.7 million.

Other figures show:

• youth unemployment fell by 20,000

• those unemployed for more than a year rose by 32,000, to 915,000

• those unemployed for two years rose to 460,000

• the "economically inactive" reached 9.04 million, up by 87,000

Unemployment is currently 72,000 than it was a year previous.

ONS Figures Show UK Unemployment Now At 2.56m
New figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show that unemployment reached 2.56 million in February, rising some 70,000 since December. The overall unemployment rate for the quarter was 7.9%. The figures also show that the number of Jobseeker’s Allowance claimants fell to 1.53 million, dropping by 7,000 last month.

Unemployment Falls To 2.56m
The unemployment rate has fallen by 0.2%, some 46,000 people, in the three months to June, new figures from the Office of National Statistics (ONS) have shown. The unemployment rate dropped to 8.0%, down from 8.2% in the previous quarter, with the total now standing at 2.56 million. The number of people claiming JSA also fell by 5,900 to 1.

Unemployment Rising By 1,300 A Day
The latest unemployment figures have revealed the UK unemployment rate is rising by some 1,300 workers per day. Figures released on Wednesday by the Office of National statistics (ONS) revealed the unemployment rate was now at 8.4% of the economically active population. There is now 2.

Little change in UK's unemployment rate
The latest UK unemployment figures have revealed little change in the number of people out of work. The ILO unemployment rate was 4.7%, unchanged on the same period last year and around the lowest figure seen for 30 years. According to the ONS figures, there are 28.8 million people in work in June to August 2005, more than ever before - and 74.

Employment At Record High - ONS
New figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) have revealed that unemployment in the UK fell by 115,000 between July and September, the 18th consecutive month the figure has come down. Total unemployment now stands at 1.96 million.
