UK Unemployment Rate Falls

The UK's unemployment rate has fallen to 1.86 million, new official figures have revealed.

In the three months to January, the number of those out of work fell by 102,000. The Office for National Statistics (ONS) added that the unemployment rate remains at 5.7%, but the number of people in work increased to a record high in the quarter. Those claiming Jobseeker's Allowance also fell to 791,200 – its lowest level since 1975.

In addition, in the three months to January, average earnings, which includes bonuses, rose by 1.8% compared to the previous year; while regular pay, which excludes bonus payments, increased by 1.6% in the same period compared with a year ago. This means that earning continue to outstrip consumer price index (CPI) inflation, which fell to 0.3% in January.

Unemployment Rate Falls To Three Year Low
New figures from the Office for National Statistics have shown that total number of UK unemployed has fallen to 2.47 million, a decrease of 48,000. The unemployment rate now stands at its lowest in over three years, at 7.6%. The figures also show that the number claiming jobseekers allowance now stands at 1.31 million, a fall of some 41,700.

UK Unemployment Falls
New figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show that unemployment in the UK now stands at 5.7%, having fallen by 97,000 in the three months to December. This means the number of adults now in work stands at 73.2%. The figures also show an increase in average earnings with bonuses, up 2.1% compared to a year earlier.

Unemployment Rises By 28,000
According to figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) UK unemployment rose by 28,000 to 2.67 million during the three months to January. The unemployment rate for January was 8.4%, up from 8.3%. Between 16-24 year olds unemployment rose by 16,000 to 1.042m, a rate of 22.5%.

UK Inflation Rate Falls To 3.6% In January
Inflation has falled in January as the impact of last year's VAT rise was no longer shown in the figures. Consumer Prices Index (CPI) inflation in the UK fell to 3.6% in January, down from 4.2% in December, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS) on Tuesday.

UK Unemployment Rate Falls To 7.7%
The UK's unemployment rate has fallen to 7.7% for the first time since late 2012, according to official statistics. The figures, released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), revealed that in the three months to July, the unemployment rate fell from 7.8%, with the number of people out of work dropping by 24,000 to 2.487 million.
