Armed Standoff Ends In Arrest

An armed standoff in the village of Cynwyd, North Wales, has ended with the arrest of a man.

North West Police called armed officers and negotiators to the village at 21:45 on Wednesday after a man aged in his 20s had barricaded himself in a house and threatened police with a firearm.

Police closed access to the village near Corwen during what they called "serious incident".

Police lifted the restrictions at 9am on Thursday, and announced that a man had been taken into custody.

It is understood that no one was injured during the incident.

British Man Dies In Dubai Police Custody
A British man has died in police custody in Dubai. Lee Bradley Brown, 39, from east London, died on Tuesday after he was taken to a Dubai police station where he was allegedly assaulted and put into a cell. It has been reported that Mr Brown, was arrested over a row at the luxury hotel Burj Al Arab hotel.

Man Arrested Over Kent Doctor's Murder
A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a doctor in Kent. Consultant paediatrician Dr Victoria Anyetei, 54, was found in her car in the driveway of her home in Dartford on August 14. She had been stabbed to death. Kent Police said that the man was arrested on suspicion of murder at an address in Dartford.

'Skull Cracker' In Custody In London
Kent Police, in partnership with officers from the Metropolitan Police Service, have arrested two men in East London on suspicion of conspiracy to commit armed robbery. On 3 May, Kent Police began a search for Michael Wheatley, 55, who had failed to return to HMP Standford Hill after being released on temporary licence.

Investigation continues as armed officers shoot man dead
Investigations were continuing today following the killing of a 23-year old man by armed officers from the Metropolitan Police in the Thornton Heath area of south London. According to police, a handgun was recovered at the scene of the shooting, which took place at around 11.25am on Wednesday in Raymead Passage, London Road in Thornton Heath.
