Police Investigate Poisoned Cakes Left In Park

Police Scotland are investigating poisoned cakes left in a public park in Inverness.

A number of "snowballs" were found to contain the blood thinning agent Warfarin, which is a medication prescribed for humans but is also used as a pest control.

Police said they are "keeping an open mind" about why the cakes were laced with the drug, but as the drug can be "extremely harmful" to both humans and pets, an investigation was underway.

'Gay Cake' Case Comes To Court

The so-called "gay cake" case has gotten underway at the High Court in Belfast.

Ashers Baking Company is facing a discrimination case, brought by the Equality Commission, over its refusal to fulfil a customer's order for a cake featuring a pro-gay marriage slogan.

The court case got underway on Thursday morning, with supporters of both the christian-bakers and the man who ordered the cake, filling the public stands.

The case is ongoing.

'Bio-Bus' Enters Full Service

The UK's first 'Bio-Bus', fuelled by human and food waste has entered full service in Bristol.

The so-called "poo bus" runs on biomethane gas generated from sewage and food waste.

The gas generated from the annual waste of about five people can power the bus for up to 186 miles.

Operator First West of England will initially run a service between Cribbs Causeway and Stockwood.

Court case baby makes first visit home
Severely disabled Charlotte Wyatt has been allowed home from the hospital for the first time since she was born two years ago. Charlotte’s father, Darren Wyatt, collected her from St Mary’s hospital in Portsmouth today to take her home for a brief visit with her mother, Debbie. Two members of staff from the hospital supervised the visit.

Appeal To Identify 'Historic' Railway Bodies
Police have launched an appeal to identify 20 people whose bodies have been found near the rail and Tube network since the mid-70s. The National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA) and British Transport Police (BTP) have teamed up for the first exercise of its kind in an attempt to identify the bodies.

Shaun Wright Quits Labour Party Following Rotherham Report
Shaun Wright has resigned from the Labour party, amid increasing pressure following a report on abuse in Rotherham, where he managed children's services between 2005 and 2010. Mr Wright was under increased pressure in light of a report that said almost 1,400 children had been sexually exploited between 1997 and 2013.

Shake-Up For Met Police Rape Unit
Metropolitan police teams that deal with rape and sexual assault cases are facing a shake-up. According to the BBC, it is believed around 100 extra officers will be recruited as the investigators of rape, child abuse and sexual assault are merged into one department.
