Keith Harris Dies Aged 67

Keith Harris has died aged 67.

The entertainer, most famous for performances with his puppet Orville, is understood to have died from cancer.

His agent Robert C Kelly confirmed the news on Twitter: "Sad to announce death from cancer of my client, dear friend and great talent, Keith Harris."

Harris had his own BBC One Saturday night programme The Keith Harris Show and had a top 10 hit with Orville's Song, popularly known as I Wish I Could Fly, in 1982.

Emergency Services Phone System Fails

Airwave, the telephone communications systems used by police, fire and ambulances in London, failed for around 40 minutes this morning.

According to the BBC, the system failed between 09:00 and 09:40, due to "an issue with intermittent communications".

There have been no reports of any problems cause by the failure.

21 Burnley Fans Given Lifetime Ban After 'Mass Brawl'

Twenty one Burnley FC fans have been banned for life for taking part in a "mass brawl" after a match in January.

The fight occurred after Burnley's Championship match against Sheffield Wednesday at Turf Moor.

The club took the action after the men were given football banning orders ranging from four to 10 years at a court hearing on Monday.

The football club's chief executive Lee Hoos said: "These people are clearly not fans and there is no place for them at Burnley Football Club."

British man killed by crocodile
A British man whose body was discovered in northern Australia at the weekend is believed to have been killed by a crocodile. Russell Harris, 37, from Eastwood, Nottingham, disappeared on Saturday, while snorkelling with a friend off Picnic Beach on the island of Groote Eylandt, off the north east coast of Australia.

Warehouse Fire Investigated
An investigation has been launched into the cause of a fire at a warehouse in Deptford on Thursday. London Fire Brigade were called to reports of a fire at an industrial unit at a business park on Trundleys Road. Eight fire engines and 58 firefighters were on site at the height of the blaze.

Police Scotland Launch Murder Investigation Into Caravan Body
Police in Scotland have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of a woman's body in a caravan on Monday. The body of Carol-Anne Taggart (54) was found at the Pettycur caravan site in Kinghorn. Ms Taggart had been missing since 22 December.

Planners to 'encourage' renewable energy development
Renewable energy will play a "vital role" in creating the sustainable communities of the future, Minister for Planning Keith Hill said today. The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister today published renewable energy plans which are designed to reduce CO2 emissions and combat climate change.

Report into Burnley race riots published
A report into the race riots in Burnley in 2001 has claimed that council spending decisions and poor civic leadership aggravated the situation. The report, 'Burnley - The Real Story', cited segregated schooling, unemployment, housing problems and health problems among the factors which contributed to divisions in the town.
