Two People Die In Lightning Strikes

Two people have been killed, while two more remain in hospital, following separate lightning strikes in Brecon Beacons, Powys, on Sunday.

At around midday on Sunday, emergency services were called to the park after lightning struck the peaks around the Pen y Fan area. Two people were airlifted to hospital in Merthyr Tydfil. Their injuries were initially described as life-threatening and were taken to Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr. A further two people are also receiving treatment; one is at the hospital, while the other is understood to be at a specialist burns unit in Swansea.

A statement released on the Prince Charles Hospital Facebook page on Sunday evening confirmed that two of the injured had died.

It said: "As a result of two separate lightning strikes in the Brecon Beacons, we can confirm that two people have died, another has been transferred to Morriston Hospital because of burns and one other person continues to receive treatment at Prince Charles Hospital."

Four killed in Worcestershire car crash
Four teenagers have been killed when their car left the A449 near Worcester and hit a tree. Three of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene and fourth died at Worcestershire Royal Hospital shortly after being taken there. West Mercia Police said that two males aged 18, and two girls aged 17 and 16 had died when the car crashed at around 9.

Terror attack victims remain in hospital
A number of people injured in Thursday’s terror attack in London have remained in hospital. Around 700 people were injured in the explosions with over 300 casualties taken to hospital by ambulance. There were also reports that double-decker buses were used to transport other victims of the blasts to hospital.

Six People In Hospital Following M25 Coach Crash
Six people have been taken to hospital with minor injuries following a coach crash on the M25 in Surrey. The incident occurred on the anticlockwise M25 carriageway in the early hours of this morning 27 July. It is understood 48 people were on board the coach when it collided with a concrete parapet between Junctions 8 and 9 at approximately 1:45am.
