Three Arrested Over Shooting Over 17-Year-Old
Police investigating the shooting of a 17-year-old male in south Birmingham have arrested three men.
Staff at Birmingham's QE hospital called police at about 17:15, on Monday, to report that a man with a gunshot injury to his abdomen had been carried in by four friends.
Inquiries quickly led officers to a flat in Dowry House on Rubery Lane South, Rubery where the 17-year-old is believed to have been shot. Forensic investigators have scoured the scene and the flat remains sealed of this morning.
As part of the investigation two 19-year-olds from Rednal and Frankley were arrested in Redditch and a 33-year-old was arrested on Rubbery Lane South. All were detained yesterday on suspicion of attempted murder and continue to be held this morning.
Detective Chief Inspector Sean Russell, from West Midlands Police, said: "The investigation is still in its early stages but so far three men have been arrested and a car and suspected drugs have also been seized.
"We have spoken to local people, identified CCTV which may have captured the shooting on camera and forensic scene investigators have been working hard in their search for clues."
The 17-year-old remains in a critical condition in hospital as he recovers from major surgery on his wounds.
Anyone with information is asked to call him on 101, or anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Eight Men Arrested Following Dawn Raids
Over 100 police officers have carried out a series of raids concerning child sexual exploitation offences in Oxford. Eight men were arrested following the raids at 6am this morning 2 June. Police are investigating approximately 60 offences in connection with the operation relating to female victims in Oxford between 1999 and 2007.

French Police Arrest Convicted On-The-Run Rapist
A 56-year-old convicted rapist who went on the run before his trial has been captured in France. Police in Calais arrested George Doulat, from Filey, North Yorkshire, on Monday. In his absence, Doulat was convicted at Bradford Crown Court for the rape, attempted rape and sexual assault of a 19-year-old woman in 2012. He was sentenced to 10 years.

The gunman who shot dead 32 people at a US college has been described as a loner, whose college work was "disturbing". Cho Seung-Hui, a 23-year-old from South Korea, who had been resident in the US since 1992, was an English student at Virginia Tech who lived on campus.
