Five Arrested After Body Found In North London

Five people have been arrested in connection with the discovery of a woman's body in Enfield, north London.

Police responded to reports of an unresponsive female at a flat in Gainsborough House, Ayley Croft, shortly after 21:00 on Thursday, 17 September.

Officers and London Ambulance Service found the body of a 25-year-old woman inside the flat. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem examination held at Haringey Mortuary on Saturday, 19 September, gave cause of death as multiple injuries, however, police said that the victim was not shot or stabbed.

Three men, aged 25, 26 and 30, and two women, both aged 20, have been arrested as part of the subsequent investigation.

All five remain in custody at north-east London police stations.

Enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances.

Father Appeals Over Paralysed Son's Shooting
The father of a teenager paralysed in a shooting incident has joined investigating officers to urge witnesses to come forward. Speaking from his son's hospital bedside Paul Smith said he knew people had information about those who shot and injured Raphael Smith, but couldn't understand why they had not spoken to police.

Arrests Follow Edmonton Murder
Police investigating the murder of 15-year old Negus McLean in Edmonton have today made a further two arrests. A 14-year old boy, and a 16-year old boy, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody. Police were called at 7.25pm on Sunday 10 April to reports of a stabbing in Westminster Road, north London.

Handicapped Girl's Rapist Jailed
A rapist has been sentenced at Inner London Crown Court following his earlier conviction. Rafal Piotr Smucz, 29, of no fixed address was jailed indefinitely and ordered to serve a minimum of six years.

East London Murder Appeal
Detectives have appealed for information about the murder of a woman in Manor Park. Aliza Ahmed Mirza, 18, a student from Ilford, died on Saturday 3 April. Police had been called to reports of a collapsed female. It is believed she was stabbed while in the Forest View Road area. Miss Mirza was taken to hospital but later pronounced dead.
