Police Renew Appeal Over Romford Attack

Police have renewed an appeal for witnesses after a woman was seriously assaulted in Romford in December 2014.

On 23 December a 39-year-old woman answered a knock at her front door in Carter Drive, Romford. When she opened the door she was attacked by an unknown male. The attack happened between 18:30 and 18:40.

The suspect ran off along Carter Drive towards Collier Row Road before getting into a vehicle.

The woman needed hospital treatment for facial injuries.

The man is described as tanned, around 5ft 9ins tall with facial stubble. He is said to have been wearing a plain woolly hat and dark clothing.

A 53-year-old man was arrested for conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm on 23 December 2014. He was subsequently bailed to a date later this month.

Police Carry Out Searches Following Terrorism Arrest

Man Charged With Toddler's Murder
A Romford man has been charged with the murder of a 14-month-old boy. The alarm was raised after the baby was pronounced dead at an east London hospital on Thursday afternoon. Post-mortem tests revealed he died from a blunt trauma injury to the abdomen. Nathan Allen, 26, from Romford, was due to appear at Havering Magistrates' Court on Monday.

Woman Fatally Stabbed At London College
Police in East London have launched an investigation after a woman was fatally stabbed at the offices of a college for overseas students. The 23-year-old victim suffered stab wounds to the neck and chest, in the St George's College office on Balaam Street, Plaistow, Scotland Yard said. A second woman was also injured in the attack.

Upminster Fire Caused By Lightning Strike
A woman has escaped a fire at her home, which is believed to have been caused by a lightning strike. Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to the semi-detached house on Humber Drive, at about 20:20 on Wednesday. Around half of the roof and part of the first floor was damaged by fire.

17 new NHS Walk-In Centres to be created
Seventeen new NHS Walk-In Centres are set to be created across England, following the announcement of a £12 million investment programme. The centres, currently numbering 65, provide quick access to health advice and treatment for minor complaints, without having to make an appointment.
