Head-on collision on A52 kills six

A minibus collision involving two lorries has left six dead and three seriously injured.

The collision occurred on the A52 between Sedgebrook and Bottesford at around 5am this morning.

Five people travelling in the minibus and a lorry driver were killed at the scene.

It is reported that the minibus was attempting to overtake one of the HGVs when it was in collision with an oncoming HGV. Another HGV was also involved in the pile-up.

Two of the injured were in the mini-bus and the third is one of the lorry drivers. None are thought to have sustained life-threatening injuries.

Lincolnshire police said that there was carnage at the scene and that the bodies were being removed from the vehicles by firecrews from Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue services.

The A52 is expected to remain closed for much of the day and drivers have been asked to find alternative routes.
