Attempted murder inquiry launched after shooting

Gwent Police have launched an attempted murder inquiry following the shooting of two brothers in Abergavenny on Sunday.

Police were called to reports of a shooting in Usk View, Govilon on Sunday afternoon. Two men, brothers Gareth Harris, 17, and Anthony Price, 20, were found in the garden of a house, with gunshot wounds to the lower legs.

They were taken to the Nevill Hall Hospital , where they are currently receiving treatment. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening and their condition is described as comfortable.

The body of their neighbour, Trevor Fallon, 55, was found in a field near the scene. A shotgun was found next to the body. His death is not being treated as suspicious.

Detective Chief Inspector Harry Gamblin said: "Enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances surrounding the incident. We have appointed family liaison officers to the victims involved. This is a localised incident and I would like to reassure the public of Gwent that firearms incidents in the area are very rare, we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident at this time."

Man found dead following reports of shooting
Police are investigating shootings in south Wales which left a man dead and two men injured. Gwent Police said that they had been called to a report of a shooting in Usk View, Govilon, Abergavenny around 2:50pm on Sunday. Two men, believed to be brothers, aged 17 and 20, were found in the garden of a house.

MoJ Reveal Drone Used In Prison Smuggle Attempt
The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has revealed that a drone was used to try and smuggle a package into the grounds of HMP Bedford. An MoJ spokesperson said that the aircraft was "quickly intercepted by vigilant staff" on 06 March.

Shotguns Recovered In Newport Shooting
Police investigating the fatal shooting of 46-year-old Caroline Parry in Newport last week have said three shotguns have been recovered. It is understood the firearms belonged Ms Parry's estranged husband, 49-year-old Christopher. The woman was shot dead in Seabreeze Avenue, Newport, on Thursday.

Minibus Overturns In Wales
A minibus has crashed and overturned near Abergavenny in Wales this morning, Friday. Eight people were in the minibus when the collision occurred on the Old Hereford Road at around 8am. No other vehicles were involved and no-one was seriously injured, Gwent Police confirmed.

Appeal over serious sexual assault in Blaenau Gwent
Police in Blaenau Gwent have appealed for information following the serious sexual assault of a 22-year-old woman at the weekend. The attack happened in an area known locally as the "Black Path", between Brynmawr and Beaufort near Ebbw Vale, around 1:00am on Saturday morning.
