UK unemployment falls further

The number of people unemployed has fallen by 29,000 in the period September to November.

According to the Office of National Statistics, the unemployment rate was 5.5%, down 0.1% from the previous quarter.

This month's figures show an increase in the number of people in employment but a fall in the employment rate. The number of people in employment rose by 14,000 over the quarter.

The unemployment rate, the number of unemployed people and the claimant count have all fallen. The claimant count was 943,100, down 5,500 from the previous month. Though there was a rise of 1,000 in the number of people made redundant in the last quarter, when 136,000 people joined job seekers queues.

The number of job vacancies has fallen.

The ONS reported that growth in average earnings, both excluding and including bonuses, was unchanged.

The working age employment rate was 74.6%, down 0.1 % on the previous quarter.

Unemployment Rate Falls To Three Year Low
New figures from the Office for National Statistics have shown that total number of UK unemployed has fallen to 2.47 million, a decrease of 48,000. The unemployment rate now stands at its lowest in over three years, at 7.6%. The figures also show that the number claiming jobseekers allowance now stands at 1.31 million, a fall of some 41,700.

UK Unemployment Rate Falls To 7.7%
The UK's unemployment rate has fallen to 7.7% for the first time since late 2012, according to official statistics. The figures, released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), revealed that in the three months to July, the unemployment rate fell from 7.8%, with the number of people out of work dropping by 24,000 to 2.487 million.

Latest figures released from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) fell by 4,000 in the three months to June, bringing the total number of people out of work in the UK to 2.51 million. The number of people claiming Jobseeker's Allowance also fell by 29,000 to 1.4 million. However, the unemployment rate remains at 7.

Unemployment falls, but claimant count rises
The number of unemployed people in the UK fell by 7,000 to 1.4 million between June and August, the latest figures from the Office of National Statistics have revealed.
