Boy 'Seriously Injured' In Crash

A four-year-old boy has been seriously injured in a collision with a car. The incident happened shortly before 1pm on Thursday at the junction of Abenbury Road and Tan-y-Coed in Wrexham. Police said the boy was taken by ambulance from the scene to town's Maelor Hospital. A spokesman said he is now being treated at Alder Hey hospital in Liverpool, for serious but not life threatening injuries.

Drugs Found In Motorway Van

Cannabis worth an estimated £1.5m has been found in a van stopped by police close to Stansted on the M11 in Essex. The drugs haul was discovered on 20 May after a police car with automatic number plate recognition equipment alerted officers. The action was part of a campaign by Essex police to target travelling criminals and improve road safety. A 33-year-old man from Belvedere, south east London, was later charged with conspiracy to supply class B drugs.

Witness Appeal After Crash

Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenager was seriously injured in a collision last night. Airedale and North Bradford Roads Policing would like to hear from anyone who has information about the incident which took place at about 11.05pm on the A644 Denholme/Brighouse Road on Thursday May 28. The incident took place after a black Daewoo Matiz, travelling towards the Keelham Cross roads/Thornton Road junction collided with a dry stone wall, before coming to rest in the carriageway. The driver, a 17-year-old Bradford man, received minor injuries as did a 17-year-old male front seat passenger who was from Oxenhope. A rear female passenger, aged 17 and from Oakworth, also received a minor arm injury but was not seriously hurt. However a 17-year-old Keighley female, who was also in the back of the car, received serious facial and head injuries and is in a serious but stable condition in Leeds General Infirmary.

Woman Dies In House Fire

A 46-year-old woman has died in a fire at a house in West Lothian. Emergency services were called to the property in Main Street, Fauldhouse, near Bathgate, just after midnight. A fire service spokesman said firefighters arrived to find the flat well alight, with the windows blown out. The woman has not yet been identified. Police are investigating the cause of the fire and appealed to anyone with information to come forward.
