My name is Nicola O’Neill, I am a professional freelance make-up artist, now based in Belfast. Originally I trained as a beauty therapist, working for a year before deciding make-up was my main interest. In 1997 I started working for MAC Cosmetics in Glasgow, training with great make-up artists who have gone on to become creative directors of MAC.

I moved down to London with MAC where I gained invaluable experience in high fashion and high quality make-up, then moving back to Edinburgh, once again working for MAC. Over the years, working for such an important company in the make up industry, I have picked up priceless training and experience. I am a MAC Pro Member, which apart from giving me trade discount, gives me access to the latest tips and trends happening in the make-up world. Along the way I have been involved in various different projects, hair shows, magazine shoots and catwalk shows and pride myself on being able to adapt my skills to any situation.

In 2007 I started my freelance make-up business which has gone from strength to strength and resulted in me being extremely busy throughout the years with weddings! 2008 saw me expand my skills to hair where I trained at the London Academy of Freelance Make Up - here I trained in Bridal, Fashion and Period Hair Styling. Training in hair has been invaluable to my business allowing me to offer both services, and on occasion being a back up when a stylist didn’t turn up!

Since then I have trained in Xtreme semi permanent eyelash extensions, Shellac and Minx nails and most recently, due to popular demand, HD brows and Temptu Pro Airbrush make-up. I have recently moved to Northern Ireland with my family and look forward to working within the Northern Irish industry and establishing a great customer based business.

Semi Permanent Make up/ Permanent Make Up and Micro pigmentation are all the same thing. Once implanted in the skin can last for up to 5 years. Our skin and appearance change over time so the fading process allows us to make tweaks as the years go on to a look that’s current and flattering. Most people require a touch up every 12-18 months, but if you decide you didn’t want a refresh after this time the style of eyebrow given will never be massively outside your natural shape. If performed properly and in a flattering and natural way should give the illusion of ‘born with it’ beauty. My aim for you is to have beautifully, natural brows that no one knows you have tattooed!

Of all the brides I have done in my 24 year career, the words I hear the most are natural, glowing, polished and radiant. My brides want to look the best they have ever looked, but also still like themselves. In my opinion, make up should not be used as a mask to hide behind but a way to bring out the beauty within. I also really enjoy making mother’s of the bride feel beautiful on the big day. Make up is often hard to get right when someone is mature, but with the right amount of skill and experience you can really transform someone and help them feel like a Hollywood star for the day. All my products are high end with a choice of regular foundation or airbrush make up to create a flawless, glowing look that will stay put day and night.

If ‘undone’ wedding hair is your thing, then I’m your woman. I love creating relaxed, soft wedding hair styles, braiding, fishtail braids and up do’s are styles I love. I do waves and curls , but all the time with a natural vibe. NB :Unfortunately as there is only one of me I’m unable to do large wedding parties of both hair and make up.
