The death toll on Northern Ireland’s roads continues to rise with two more fatalities at the weekend.

A man and a woman were fatally injured in separate road accidents in County Londonderry and County Down.

A young man was killed in a crash on the main Belfast to Londonderry road and a female pedestrian died after a collision with a motorcycle near Newcastle.

In the first accident, several people were also hurt after two cars crashed on the Glenshane Pass on Sunday afternoon.

The man who died was 18-year-old Rory Duncan from Rasharkin.

Two of the injured are understood to be in a serious condition in hospital.

In County Down, an elderly woman was involved in a collision with a motorcycle near the Murlough nature reserve at about 1300 GMT on Sunday. She was taken to hospital, but died later.
