Gardai Arrest Bank Robbery Suspects

It has emerged that three men are now in custody in the Irish republic over an armed robbery at a bank in Northern Ireland.

Two gunmen entered a bank in Belleek, Co Fermanagh, on Monday and told customers to lie on the floor while they made staff fill bags with cash.

They escaped in a car which was later found burnt out a mile across the border in the Republic of Ireland.

The men were arrested in the Republic and are being held in Letterkenny, Ballyshannon and Dublin.

Two Men Arrested Following Magherafelt Cannabis Seizure
Two men have been arrested in connection with the seizure of suspected cannabis in Magherafelt. At around 4pm on Sunday 12th May, officers conducted a search of a vehicle under the Misuse of Drugs Act which was parked at the Station Road area. Following the search of the vehicle, two subsequent searches were conducted at two properties in the town.

New NI Bank Notes In Circulation
New bank notes have been released into circulation in Northern Ireland. The £10 and £20 notes are being issued from Danske Bank and will gradually replace the existing Northern Bank notes. The design of the notes remains the same, the only difference is the Danske Bank logo has replaced the Northern Bank logo.

Northern Bank Becomes Danske
Today the Northern Bank officially becomes Danske Bank. The new name comes from the bank’s Danish parent and will see branches across Ireland, Norway, Finland, Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania adopt the new title.

Irish Govt Commits To Invest €800m In Northern Ireland
The announcement of an €800 million (£685m) investment in Northern Ireland by the Irish Government has been welcomed as a "significant contribution" by Finance Minister, Dr Caoimhe Archibald MLA.
