Halloween Robbery

The 'witching hour' was barely past, when two men armed with handguns and wearing frightening monkey masks entered a youth club in the Magazine Street area of Derry in an attempted armed robbery in Londonderry at the weekend. One man fired a shot into the ceiling and demanded money but they left empty-handed. It happened at 1.30am on Sunday and a police spokesperson said there were no reports of anyone being injured during the incident.

Cocaine 'Suspect' Remanded

An alleged cocaine dealer has been remanded in custody after police uncovered 2.5 kilograms of the drug in his bedroom. Ciaran O'Neill, 32, from Carlisle Square in north Belfast was charged with possession with intent to supply the class A drug. A police officer told the court the estimated street value of the drugs seized was £150,000.

Fisherman Still Poorly

A fisherman is very ill after being badly hurt in the second fishing boat fire to hit Northern Ireland in just over a week. The victim remains critically ill after the boat he was working on went on fire in the harbour at Warrenpoint on Friday. He was transferred from Daisyhill Hospital in Newry to Belfast later on Friday. The fire broke out on the 40-metre mussel dredger Celtic Harvester as the boat was berthed in the harbour. Earlier last month, all the crew members of a Kilkeel-based fishing boat which went on fire in Belfast Lough were rescued from the water and taken to Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast. Four were sent home that day, while the other was detained overnight.
