'Green' Jobs Boost As Quinn Expands

Fermanagh's Quinn Group has said it plans to create up to 800 jobs across Ireland in the next three years.

The business ranges from cement to car insurance, and it is hoped to achieve this expansion through planned recycling and insulation projects, packaging operations and initiatives to reduce the firm's 'carbon footprint'.

"Over the next few years it is the ambition of Quinn Group to further boost employment throughout Ireland, north and south, by generating an additional 800 jobs," a spokeswoman said last Friday.

The group owns several manufacturing sites in Derrylin, Co Fermanagh, near where company founder Sean Quinn grew up and still lives.

The group is producing annual profits of between E400 million and E500m (£359m to £449m) and it already employs 5,500 people in Ireland.
