Two Dead After Stolen Car Crashes

Two young men have been killed in a car crash in Co Antrim - apparently while they were travelling in a stolen vehicle.

Both died at the scene in the fatal collision that occurred on the Collin Road - outside Ballyclare - last Saturday around 1.20 pm.

The two 23-year-old men lost the control of a Subaru car which then left the road between the Springvale Road and Tildarg Road before crashing.

It is believed they had stolen the car from a house at Killyglen Road in Larne earlier that day.

Shortly before the accident, the police had spotted the car in Ballyclare town centre.

SDLP South Antrim MLA Thomas Burns has expressed his sympathies following the deaths and said: "This is a terrible tragedy and one which will impact on a wide number of people in the families of the two men.

"I would like to express my deepest sympathies with the family and friends of the two deceased.

"A road death is extremely hard to come to terms with, never mind a double tragedy."

The PSNI are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the incident on the Rashee Road or Colin Road prior to the road traffic collision or in the tragic moment to contact them at Ballyclare station the telephone number is 0845 600 8000.
