EasyJet set to introduce free Belfast-Scotland flights
Low-cost airline EasyJet is set to introduce the world's first no-fare flights between Northern Ireland and Scotland.
Tens of thousands of passengers flying between Northern Ireland and Edinburgh and Glasgow will travel for free for the remainder of 2002.
EasyJet has introduced a '£0' price as the standard fare for the majority of flights between Belfast International, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
However, passengers who grab the free seats between Belfast, Edinburgh and Glasgow will still have to pay £6.60 in tax and insurance for a single fare which, the airline claims, is the lowest one way airfare anywhere in the world.
There are no date, minimum or maximum stay restrictions, but the company advises early booking to ensure the lowest fares.
A spokesperson for the company said the move aims to reinforce the airline's position as the cheapest way to travel between Northern Ireland and Scotland. The budget airline also claims that for business trips, the new EasyJet lead-in fare is 20 times lower than its British Airways equivalent between Belfast and Scotland.
The free seats are available for travel from Monday 25 February 2002 and throughout the rest of the year.
