Jobs Created As Retailers Combine
Some 100 Irish jobs are being promised after the owner of Currys and PC World announced plans to combine both retailers under one identity.
DSG Retail says the redevelopment will take place at a number of undisclosed locations throughout the company over the course of the next 18 months.
Declan Ronayne, Managing Director of DSG Retails Ireland, said the plans will not result in a loss of jobs at the current stores.
"In a very tough economic environment, we have proved our retailing mettle by trading successfully," he said.
"We're a dynamic company and our focus is on the big picture. That, for us, is capitalising on the opportunity to provide Irish consumers with an appealing retail environment with the best and widest range of technology and lifestyle products, underpinned by a good service ethic and very competitive prices.
"We have a busy 18 months ahead and look forward to updating customers as we implement our plans."
Details of the new stores later in the year are expected to emerge later this year.
The company said it also has plans to re-fit the PC World store in Galway and the Currys and PC World stores in Limerick.
