Diesel Drives Used Car Sales

In the new year, we all want to shed a few pounds – and in 2010, UK drivers seem to be leading the way. As fuel prices creep ever upwards, motorists are switching from petrol to diesel models in an effort to lose pounds at the pumps.

With the recent increase in VAT back to 17.5% now in full effect, car owners are feeling the pinch even further and looking to cut costs wherever they can.

"Fuel prices are definitely playing a part in people’s choice of car," said Mike Walsh, Sales Director of one of the UK’s biggest used car hypermarkets, Carcraft. "With diesel models offering a much more economical performance, we’re finding more and more customers are making the switch from petrol."

Some of the most popular diesel models being sold at Carcraft include the Renault Megane Scenic 1.5 dCi, the Vauxhall Vectra 2.0 Dti and the Ford Focus 1.6 TDCi at 58.9mpg according to manufacturers all offering over 50 miles per gallon.

Customers can choose from over 4,000 cars in Group stock at Carcraft with diesel options available across the board, from prestige vehicles to family saloons, MPVs, estates and hatchbacks.

A wide range of finance options also helps to spread the cost of car buying, making motoring as easy on the pocket as possible for today’s cash-strapped drivers.
