European Nissan Sales Up
Nissan in Europe has reported sales of 42,985 units in January, representing an increase of 17% year on year.
Nissan in Europe reported an increased market share of 3.2% continuing the consistent 3%+ monthly performances of previous months. Overall TIV was up 6% versus January 2009 driven by the Western European markets although overall still 25% below 2008 levels, Russia continues to stabilize at a lower level of demand -39% vs January 2009.
Sales in Europe for January were in line with forecasts, the company said.
"We are beginning to see the affect of the end, or reduction, of scrap incentives in Western Europe in countries like Germany where TIV was below 2009," added a spokesman.
Bernard Loire, Vice President Sales Operations for Nissan in Europe commented: "Our market share of 3.2% is the highest we have achieved since January 2009; this was a great result from all our teams in Europe.
"The outlook for 2010 is still uncertain in many markets but several major economies are coming out of recession and forecasting some growth this year resulting in continuing strong demand for models such as Qashqai."
