Woman dies after road traffic collision

The young woman who died in a road accident in County Tyrone on Thursday morning was due to be married.

The woman, Melanie Scott (21) from Lisbellaw, County Fermanagh, was to wed a David Foy. Relatives said that the families were devastated at the tragic death of the bride-to-be.

Miss Scott was the driver of car which was in collision with a lorry at about 8.15am on Thursday February 7.The accident happened at Tattymoyle Road in Fintona, outside Omagh.

Road diversions remained in place as traffic was diverted to the Barr Road and Rahona Road for part of Thursday.

The police have appealed for witnesses to the accident to contact them.

To date a total of thirteen people have been killed on the province's roads since 1 January 2002.

There were 148 road deaths in 2001 and 177 in the year 2000.

Woman Killed In Co Armagh Road Collision
A woman in her 30s has been killed in a road crash in Portadown, Co Armagh. The woman was hit by a car as she was walking on the side of the Moy Road at around 9.45pm on Tuesday. The road was closed for a short time but it has been reopened. Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.
