Good Morning Vietnam: Invest NI Flies East
Eight Northern Ireland companies are taking part in the first Invest Northern Ireland trade mission to Vietnam.
The companies will be based in Ho Chi Minh City and will be seeking to develop trade and other business relationships with enterprises in Vietnam.
The mission is being assisted by commercial staff at the British Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City and will be in Vietnam from 10-12 March.
The Consulate and Invest NI have assisted many of the companies with market research and in lining up a programme of meetings with potential customers in Vietnam.
All but one of the companies in the group are visiting Vietnam for the first time. Randox Laboratories of Crumlin, a major international developer of diagnostic systems, has had business in the country over many years and will be supporting an existing distributor and meeting customers.
The newcomers to the market are: APTx of Belfast, a developer of digital audio software; CIGA Healthcare, Ballymena, a specialist in diagnostic tests, Devenish Nutrition, Belfast, a manufacturer of nutritional products for farm animals; FM Environmental, Newry, a designer and manufacturer of waste water treatment plants and grease removal systems; George McIvor, Dungannon, a supplier of ground handling machinery for airports, Target Dry, also from Belfast, a supplier of leisure garments, and Ulster Weavers, Holywood, a producer of apparel and household textiles.
Dr Vicky Kell, Invest NI Trade Director, said: "All the companies on this mission are keen to develop business relationships in Vietnam and have already carried out extensive market research into trading opportunities and potential partners.
"The mission to Vietnam is a logical extension of our strategic focus on the ASEAN markets. Vietnam is now among the most dynamic markets in the region and one which offers significant opportunities to our companies across a range of business sectors.
"The companies on this mission are broadly representative of the strengths which Northern Ireland possesses in high tech industries such life sciences, digital technology and environmental engineering, as well as traditional sectors including engineering, specialist clothing and textiles.
"All the companies in the delegation are experienced exporters and most have business in other markets in South East Asia including Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand," he said.
