Clay Brick Firm Opens In Newtownabbey

One of Europe's leading clay brick manufacturers, Wienerberger, is to open its first dedicated sales and distribution centre in Ireland this month.

In line with the company's other European centres, the new operation will also incorporate a state-of-the-art showroom, to be located in Newtownabbey, Co Antrim

Commenting on the news, Wienerberger UK Managing Director Harald Schwarzmayr said: "Although the Irish market has seen a new low in 2009, we believe that the time is right to make sure that our business is ready for the upswing.

"Wienerberger's breadth of product ranges, our technical expertise and our market penetration across Europe has helped us to weather the storm and take strategic decisions about the future.

"Ireland has traditionally been a strong export market for us and we look forward to working with local distributors and merchants to maximise our impact on the market as and when it begins to recover."
