Deanes Opens In French Style

One of Northern Ireland's most prolific and successful restaurateurs, Michael Deane has re-opened his flood-hit iconic Howard Street restaurant today.

With a return to the classical signature opulence and a claimed food offering that will be even more accessible to everyone, the move follows a devastating flood which closed the Michelin Starred Belfast restaurant for the last five months.

It is hoped to maintain its status when the judges decide in January 2011 about the star rating, but Michael Deane (pictured) said today that he is "concentrating on bringing something fresh to the eating out experience in Belfast" for now.

"They award their stars for the past year's performance and we have now been closed for almost four months which is critical reviewing time for the guide," Michael said.

"We have totally refurbished the restaurant in a modern nod to our famous French brasserie style and the food will continue to be full of top quality local ingredients but importantly it will be at a price that takes into account the more stringent financial times we live in," Michael explained.

"The restaurant industry in Northern Ireland is critical to our tourism offering but I have always said that it is the support of local customers who keep our doors open.

"What they want is great food in a warm and welcoming environment at a price they want to pay," he commented.
