Drivers Want Scrappage Scheme To Continue
As the government’s ‘scrappage scheme’ comes to an end, nearly two thirds of Britons say they want it to continue, reveals Carmony.co.uk.
Leading used car website Carmony.co.uk commissioned the research into consumer opinion of the scrappage scheme and, whilst the majority of Brits (72%) understood the initiative, less than 10% have taken advantage of it.
More than half thought it had the ‘desired effect’, encouraging people to purchase a new car during the recession.
"It’s interesting to see just how popular the scrappage scheme appears to have been with the car buying public," said Alan Hazelhurst, Managing Director, Carmony.co.uk.
"Although consumers would like the scrappage scheme to continue, now that it’s finished, it’s likely that many will still be looking to replace their car with a newer vehicle.
"We expect to see a rise in searches for nearly-new vehicles and with nearly 32,000 manufacturer or dealer approved cars under 2 years old, Carmony.co.uk is the place to find them."
