Clearstream IT jobs boost for County Wexford

County Wexford is to see the creation of 150 new jobs following the announcement by ClearStream Technologies of a significant expansion of its Enniscorthy plant.

The jobs boost comes as a result of an increase in operations by ClearStream, a company whose core business is in the design, manufacture and distribution of angioplasty catheters used in interventional cardiology.

Visiting the site, Tánaiste Mary Harney, said: "The creation of an additional 150 highly skilled jobs is clearly very important to this high technology business which requires continuous research and development to ensure further growth and expansion. The new investment by the company with Enterprise Ireland support will provide additional clean room facilities, more production equipment to meet customer demand, and technology for new product development.

She added: "Today's announcement is very good news for Enniscorthy and a major boost to the Wexford economy which has been badly affected by recent job losses. The healthcare sector is a key sector of growth for the Irish economy and I am particularly delighted to see that an Irish owned company has achieved such success and continues to grow and expand in this very important industry".

Currently, 97 people are employed at the ClearStream plant in Enniscorthy. (CL)
