NI Housing Market Improves Slightly

The latest figures from the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RCIS) have indicated a slight improvement in the housing market in Northern Ireland.

RICS found that transaction levels rose marginally in March.

However, the body stressed that house prices in Northern Ireland continue to fall behind the rest of the UK and are expected to remains broadly flat for the foreseeable future.

"There are unlikely to be any significant changes to local housing market conditions in the near future," said RCIS Northern Ireland spokesman, Tom McCelland.

"The probable course is for market activity to increase slowly from current low levels of activity and for prices to remain broadly flat over the medium-term.

"However there will be variations and there are risks," he added.
