Firefighters withdraw after explosions in Coalisland blaze

Firefighters were temporarily forced to withdraw from a fire in Coalisland this morning after a series of explosions were heard from inside the building.

Three explosions were reported by firefighters attending the blaze at Bush Road, which was reported at around 10am this morning.

Three large steel containers of diesel were found on fire and three more containers were found on the premises.

Customs officers have estimated that 25,000 litres of oil were burned off in the fire. They also claimed that they were concerned at the manner in which the fuel was stored. (KMcA)

Bonfire Call-outs Reduced As Advice Heeded
Emergency call-outs to traditional pre-Twelfth eleventh night bonfires have reduced by almost two thirds in the past three years. The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) believes this is because their safety message getting through. Chief Fire Officer Peter Craig (pictured) said: "I think it is down to education.

The latest in a long-running series of security alerts blamed on republican dissidents has led to about 100 families being forced to leave their homes last night. It happened after a suspicious car was left outside New Barnsley PSNI station.

ASSEMBLY CREATE AWARD TO HONOUR FIRE SERVICE
THE Northern Ireland Fire Service is to receive the first ever award given by the province's devolved assembly. An illuminated scroll is to be presented to Chief Fire Officer John McClelland on Tuesday, by assembly speaker Lord Alderdice in tribute to the sacrifice made by fire fighters over the years.

Three People Dead In House Fire In Co Fermanagh
At least three people have died in a house fire in Co Fermanagh. Emergency services were called to the blaze in the Molly Road area of Derrylin on Tuesday morning, 27 February. The fire has been extinguished and investigations are ongoing. The public have been advised to avoid the area.

Thieves Attempt To Steal Cash Machine In Co Armagh
Thieves have attempted to steal a cash machine in County Armagh in the early hours of Thursday morning. A digger was used to try and remove the machine on the Dobbin Road in Portadown. They set fire to the ATM machine as they were unable to retrieve it. It is believed three men were involved in the incident.
