BT Group announce board level changes

The BT Group have announced the appointment to their board of three new non-executive directors.

Joining the board, with effect from January 14, 2002, are John Nelson, the retiring Chairman of Credit Suisse First Boston (Europe), Carl G. Symon, Managing Director of global business development for DiamondCluster International and Baroness Jay.

At the same time Helen Alexander, June de Moller, Sir John Weston, and Neville Isdell will retire from the board.

Sir Christopher Bland, chairman of BT Group, said: "I am delighted to welcome John Nelson, Carl Symon and Margaret Jay to the board. Together they bring a wealth of experience from the financial, business and political worlds, which will be invaluable to the BT Group as we move forward.

"I would also like to thank our retiring directors for their hard work and support. They have made an extremely valuable contribution to the company during a particularly turbulent period."

BT confirmed their intention to recruit a further non-executive so that the board will have a majority of independent non-executive directors. (GB)

Women in more profitable UK boardrooms
Women are continuing to break through the 'glass ceiling' of British business, according to the latest survey of UK directors. The survey by business analysts Experian found that female directors are also more likely to be involved in profitable businesses – 57.6% of all female directors are involved in companies that make a profit, compared to 56.

CMASS Celebrates Fifth Anniversary
Enterprise, Trade and Investment Minister, Jonathan Bell, has joined the fifth anniversary celebrations of Mallusk based manufacturing service company CMASS. As part of the celebrations the Minister also announced a company investment of more than £500,000 and the creation of five new jobs.

Ministers Push For Agri-Food Strategy Board Members
People have been reminded that they have just a few days left to submit applications to become a member of the new Agri-Food Strategy Board. The Board will be made of up both industry and senior Government officials and its purpose is to develop a strategic plan for the agri-food sector up to 2020.
