New Boss At NI Cancer Charity
Northern Ireland's longest established cancer charity, the Ulster Cancer Foundation, has appointed a new Chief Executive.
Roisin Foster, from Scarva, Co Armagh, brings 24 years experience in the voluntary sector to her new role, primarily within disability charities, and holds a Masters in Voluntary Sector Management from the CASS Business School, University of London.
Commenting on her appointment, Roisin Foster (pictured) said: "It's a very exciting time to be taking on my new role with the Ulster Cancer Foundation as the charity prepares to celebrate its 40th anniversary year.
"As we face the future I believe that it's very important to build on the range of support services already provided by the Ulster Cancer Foundation.
"Feedback from patients, their families and carers has shown that we provide a vital link in helping people come to terms with their diagnosis, rediscover their self-esteem whilst building their confidence to face a new future.
"Our focus will be to ensure that all our services, particularly the ground-breaking family support service, is freely available and accessible to everyone across Northern Ireland," she said.
"I want to pay tribute to the sterling work undertaken by my predecessor Arlene Spiers and her unfailing dedication to the organisation.
"She was instrumental in positioning cancer firmly at the top of the health agenda in Northern Ireland and in building a strong and experienced team of people," the new boss continued.
I am grateful for the very firm foundation that she created upon which we can build for the future."

A leading Northern Ireland campaigner on cancer prevention and care has welcomed news of a new vaccine that will be offered to young girls nationally. Arlene Spiers, Chief Executive of the Ulster Cancer Foundation (UCF) commented on the cervical cancer vaccine which has been recommended for an NHS immunisation programme.
