Skills' Match Website Boosts Dublin Jobs
A skills-match website is to create as many as 50 jobs in the Irish Republic.
The Dáil Enterprise Minister Batt O'Keeffe welcomed news of the new jobs with Internet firm Weedle in south Dublin, yesterday.
The technology company, which is based in Blackrock, has developed a free website for users to showcase skills and expertise.
Mr O'Keeffe said the firm had developed a pioneering business: "Weedle typifies the strong capacity of indigenous Irish firms to innovate in niche markets with high-potential online platforms that can spur the next generation of global internet brand-leaders."
The website, which has been live for three months, has thousands of users across 50 countries.
Iain MacDonald, one of the founders of the company, said the website will connect professionals and generate increased demand for skills and services.
"In Ireland, the US and globally, there is a wealth of highly skilled people with great expertise," Mr McDonald said.
"But despite there being significant demand from people who need these skills and expertise, there is no free large-scale simple way to match people with skills to those who need them."

Employment and Learning Minister Sir Reg Empey stressed that skills development, quality education and training was vital to the success of the local ICT sector. The Minister was addressing delegates attending 'One Year On', a conference hosted by e-skills UK, the Sector Skills Council for IT and Telecommunications.

Health Website Creates Ten New Jobs
A health 'search engine' is announcing ten new jobs at their Dublin office. Whatclinic.com is expanding and is currently hiring for positions in sales, marketing and software engineering. The search engine helps private patients research and contact clinics for elective treatments such as dentistry, plastic surgery, fertility and laser eye surgery.
