Cork Pharma Firm Expands
There's to be a large-scale redevelopment of a Cork pharmaceutical plant.
Around €3.5 million is to be spent on a process building and store on a two-storey Wexport Ltd premises, at Little Island, Co. Cork.
The company's primary activity is the manufacture of unfractionated heparin and low molecular weight heparin as a bulk pharmaceutical chemical for supply to LEO Pharma, affiliates and third party customers.
The contract has now started with the mechanical and electrical sub-contractors also now appointed for the works involved with the construction at Wallingstown.
The building will have an adjoining single storey store for use in conjunction with the existing pharmaceutical plant.
Modifications to the existing vehicular entrance to accommodate a new goods entrance road and associated siteworks are included.
Total floor area approved works equals 2,625 square metres (ground floor 1,850 square metres and first floor 775 square metres), existing buildings will equal 4,063 square metres. The area of the site measures 8.2 hectares.
Main construction work is currently progressing on site and the contract period is estimated at six months.
The architect is Hudson Associates, the electrical subcontractor, Winthrop Engineering and the main contractor, Bowen Construction.

International property consultants Healey & Baker looked at 45 countries around the world, analysing the total costs of occupying office space in 100 locations.
