Gang Fire Shots At Londonderry Home

Shots have been fired at a Londonderry home. Four masked men fired a number of shots at the door to the house in Dove Gardens shortly before 11pm on Tuesday. Two men were inside at the time, but neither sustained injuries. A short time later, petrol bombs and other missiles were thrown at police officers investigating the incident. An officer sustained a leg injury after being hit by a stone.

£20m Contract Boost For Harland and Wolff

Harland and Wolf have been awarded a multi-million pound contract by Siemens to design and build two sub-station platforms for an offshore windfarm. The contract for the Gwynt y Mor facility 10 miles off the coast of north Wales is worth around £20m.

Well-Known Buildings Open Doors To Public

Next weekend (11-12 September) a series of events will be held to celebrate Northern Ireland’s rich and diverse architecture and heritage. There are more than 260 events taking place as part of European Heritage Open Days. Many buildings which are otherwise closed during the rest of the year will be opened to the public. Cathedrals, cottages, mills, former military bases and a few castles will open their doors free of charge next weekend.

New Finance Minister, Dr Caoimhe Archibald, has committed to delivering a public sector pay award that will reflect "the vital role they play in delivering public services".
