SmartGlass International has supplied a large area of solar control SmartGlass to the set of the newly launched ITV breakfast anchor program “Daybreak”.

Daybreak is the new breakfast television programme for the ITV network anchored by Christine Bleakley and Adrian Chiles. Daybreak has replaced GMTV which aired its last weekday edition on Friday 3 September.

The new central London studio with its floor to ceiling windows offers an unrivalled view over the city skyline from Saint Pauls to the Gherkin and far beyond. SmartGlass International was called in to design and install a solar control glazing system that would combat the negative effects of direct sunlight including glare and heat.

SPD SmartGlass offered the perfect solution and was installed in approximately 100 window panes. The glass facade can now be automatically dimmed from clear to dark controlling glare and solar heat gain while protecting the studio inhabitants from the damaging effects of UV.

Daybreak will air weekdays from 6 to 8.30 am on ITV.

Smart Glass International has its headquarters, manufacturing, finance and R&D centres in Dublin, Ireland with commercial, sales and technical offices in the UK. Smart Glass International (SGI) is the dedicated manufacturer of Electronically Switchable Glass (also known as intelligent glassand electric glass) for innovative technology driven interiors.
