Open + Direct employee wins UK marketing award

A manager at Belfast-based financial services company Open + Direct has scooped a top UK marketing award after devising a successful CD Rom marketing initiative for the company.

April Carrington was awarded the Ideas UK International Award at ceremony in Chester.

The initial entry for the competition saw over 150,000 ideas submitted from 400 companies worldwide who are affiliated to the Ideas UK Association, set up to encourage more active participation in employee suggestion schemes.

The original 150,000 entries were then filtered down to just 25 finalists, short-listed to present their ideas in more detail to the judges.

Accepting the award, April said: “I was amazed and delighted to be short-listed but to go on to win was incredible and I still can’t believe it. It’s really encouraged me to put forward my ideas more often.”

The CD Rom, called Profit at your Fingertips, advises retailers on all aspects of Open + Direct’s offerings in a handy, accessible format which has been used across all the sectors the company operates in.

Judges were particularly impressed with easy way Open + Direct could adapt the CD-Rom format to communicate its marketing message internationally. (MB)
