Commonwealth Games Decision Due

NI athletes are lined-up for the starting gun at next month's Commonwealth Games - but their attendance at the event in India hinges on a special meeting tonight - when a final decision on whether to send them will be made.

Over 80 athletes are scheduled to depart for the games in Delhi on Monday. Earlier this week, the Northern Ireland Commonwealth Games Council announced it had sent two of its officials to Delhi to inspect facilities there following concerns about their condition and safety.

Now in Delhi, the officials have been liaising with delegates from other European countries, the Commonwealth Games Federation and local organisers to assess the situation.

But the pressure is on, as last night, England's team announced it would travel to the Games after agreeing the decision with its 17 member sports.
