Empey launches consultation on limited liability partnerships
The Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Investment Sir Reg Empey has announced the publication of a consultation document containing legislative proposals to provide Limited Liability Partnerships (LLP) in Northern Ireland.
The proposed legislation will provide Northern Ireland firms with the potential benefits from the limited liability partnership organisation currently available in similar forms in other countries.
Launching the document on Thursday November 15, Sir Reg said:“ Providing a modern corporate code in Northern Ireland, relevant to the needs of local business, is a key priority of my Department. I would invite comments from interested parties who have views on how the legislation should be developed to meet the particular needs of Northern Ireland business.”
The results of the consultation, which ends on 14 January 2002, will be reflected in a draft Bill and regulations to be considered by the Assembly with the first LLP registration expected by 2003. (AMcE)
