Gas Death Tragedy 'Doubles'

A second tragedy has been revealed with news that the widow of the Co Fermanagh man killed by carbon monoxide poisoning last week has also died. She was found critically ill alongside her husband, Killian Scallon in the family's Kesh Road home in Irvinestown last Wednesday. Pauline Scallon was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital for treatment and was listed as critical. Her death, in the early hours of Tuesday morning, was just days after her husband was buried.

Neeson Meets Kids

Cinemagic, Belfast's award-winning film and television festival for young people, will host an 'in conversation' evening with Liam Neeson, on Tuesday 7th December. Kids In Stolen Car

A member of the public brought a teenage boy and his baby sister back to their mum after they were abandoned at the side of a road when their car was stolen from a filling station in Warrenpoint. Their mother had gone into the shop on the Newry Road shortly after 9.30pm last Thursday when a man thought to be in his 20s stole the vehicle. The children - aged 14 and seven months - were found unharmed a short time later at the side of Narrow Water Road and the stolen BMW car was found in the Dundalk area on Friday. The PSNi has appealed for witnesses to come forward.

IFA Goes 'App'

Soccer fans can now go high-tech with news that the Irish Football Association (IFA) has launched their first 'App' for the iphone and ipad. Having opened their new web site in July as well as running a comprehensive social networking sites which includes the official facebook page and youtube channel, the App has now been developed to allow NI fans to be kept up to date with the latest information from Windsor Avenue as well as the latest fixtures and results from international games. Geoff Wilson, Head of Marketing and Communications at the IFA said: "It is important to embrace the new e-Marketing platforms such as Apps. Records Exhibited

A lecture series, exploring the wealth of records held by the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI) is to be held over the coming months at the Linen Hall Library. Commencing on the 24 November the series will be delivered by PRONI experts and will focus on a range of subjects from preserving documents to using the records both on-site and on-line. Director of PRONI, Aileen McClintock, said: "This is the start of a number of partnership ventures between PRONI and the library. It builds upon existing partnerships that PRONI already enjoys with Libraries NI such as Cregagh Library providing a satellite self-service facility while PRONI is moving to the new state-of-the-art accommodation at Titanic Quarter."

Life Behind Bars

Pupils from three schools in NI will be learning from a team of experts this week how not to 'Go to Jail'. Staff from the Prison!Me!No!Way! team will visit schools in Co Armagh and greater Belfast to give young people a taste of the reality of life behind bars. The day-long series of workshops urges young people to think about the importance of making positive life choices and the consequences poor choices may have on their own lives, both now and in the future. Although the lessons are hard-hitting, there is a healthy dose of fun activities and role playing too. Colin McAllister, co-ordinator of Prison!Me!No!Way! in Northern Ireland, said the aim was to complement the schools' excellent pastoral care policies: "Bullying, drugs, joyriding and anti-social behaviour are all problems that can lead to disastrous consequences. The objective of the programme is to make young people think about their relationships with other people and what the implications are of becoming involved in crime," he said.
