Holy Cross policing attracts complaints

The security operation at the Holy Cross Girls Primary School has attracted further complaints about the security operation.

This time the complaints came from the Governor of the Catholic Girls Primary School Father Aiden Troy, who said that police had forced children and adults off pavements near the school.

This week the security operation was scaled down slightly as loyalist protestors came to an understanding with police at the weekend. On Monday police officers involved in the security operation did not wear full riot gear as they ensured the schoolchildren could get to the besieged school.

However, Father Troy claimed that the changes in the security operation had left the parents with no confidence in the way that the situation was being handled.

The Right to Education Group said that children and parents felt vulnerable due to the decreased security presence.

While it was hoped that intensive meetings over the weekend during the mid-term break would produce some sort of solution to the 11-week dispute, all efforts to reach an accommodation have so far failed. (SP)
