Arrests Follow East Belfast Assault

Three people have been arrested after a 43-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were attacked at a house in east Belfast.

East Belfast Alliance Councillor Máire Hendron has condemned those involved and said: "This was a brutal attack and my thoughts are very much with the man and the woman who were subjected to this sickening ordeal. I hope they both make a full and swift recovery. People who use violence have no place in our society. Those involved in this must be taken off our streets and I call on anyone who saw anything which could help police with their investigation to contact them immediately."

The PSNI said today that it happened in the Tildarg Street area on Wednesday.

Two men and a woman went into the property, assaulted the couple and then wrecked the front room.

The police also said that two 33-year-old women and a 35-year-old man were arrested on Thursday in connection with the incident.
