Information Appeal Follows Bangor Shooting

A probe has been launched after a woman and a 10-year-old boy escaped shocked but uninjured when a house in Bangor was fired on.

It happened on Saturday evening when the Ballymaconnell Road property was targeted shortly after 7pm.

The woman was treated in hospital for shock, although neither she nor the child are believed to be injured although a window was smashed.

PSNI detectives in Bangor are appealing for information following the incident and said in a statement that a number of shots were fired at a house.

They said one female was present in the house at the time as well as the child who was also there at the time.

"We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or has information in relation to this to contact them on 0845 600 8000. Information about crime can also be passed anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111," the statement concluded.

DUP North Down MLA Alex Easton said: "I totally condemn this attack on this house and those living in it this evening. Those responsible should be utterly ashamed of themselves and if they have any sense they should hand themselves over to the police.

"It is particularly disturbing that a child was present in the house to witness this incident.

"My thoughts are with the victims and I would urge anyone with information about those responsible to come forward an share it with the police.

"It is in the interests of the community that those responsible are brought before the courts," the MLA said.
