Orange continues worldwide growth
Mobile phone group Orange has reported a “solid” increase in worldwide turnover during the last quarter.
The group said that revenue for the three months to September rose from £2 billion to £2.4 billion. It also revealed that it added 1.6 million new customers in the company’s third quarter trading period.
This follows on from the recent announcement that company more than doubled its Northern Ireland customer base in the space of 12 months.
According to recent customer statistics released by the company, recent sales figures showed that Orange sold more than 31,000 mobile phones in Northern Ireland taking its total subscriber base to nearly 300,000 compared to the 135,000 during the same period last year.
In its latest report the company also revealed that the UK revenue stream rose by £866 million, while customer numbers rose 47 per cent on the same quarter as last year. (MB)

Antrim company wins Queen's Enterprise Award
Antrim-based electronics company, Schrader Electronics, has been awarded the 2002 Queen’s Award for Enterprise. The company was presented the award at its headquarters by Enterprise Minister Sir Reg Empey. The Queens’ representative, the Lord Lieutenant-General, Lord O’Neill, was also present.

Investors express concern over Vodafone's future
Shares in Vodafone slumped to less than £1 on Friday morning, in light of the company's decision to cut its forecasts for its Italian and German operations. Analysts had forecasted profits in the region of £4 billion for the combined operations of Vodafone's D2 and Omnitel, but in a recent statement, Vodafone revised the figure to £3.7 billion.
