Minister opens Donaghmore Business Park
A £650,000 business park which aims to put a new commercial heart into the Tyrone village of Donaghmore has been officially opened by Minister for Social Development, Maurice Morrow.
The Torrent Valley Business Park is a new 12,000 square-foot building providing high quality workspace units in a range of sizes suitable for rural manufacturing businesses. Potential tenants for nine of the 16 units have already been identified.
The project was promoted and developed by the voluntary board of Torrent Valley Initiative Ltd – a visionary group of people representing the villages of Donaghmore and Castlecaulfield, who came together to arrest the decline of their communities and to undertake their regeneration through a series of economic, physical and social projects.
Congratulating those behind the initiative, Mr Morrow said: “This impressive project would not have happened had it not been for the vision, drive and determination of the members of the Torrent Valley Initiative.
“I am confident, given Donaghmore’s long history of industry – including such diverse activities as brewing and soap manufacture - that these new units will soon be filled, and I am pleased to note that tenants are already moving in.
“This achievement is also evidence of the power of partnership. Funding support came not just from the Department’s main partners in CRISP – The International Fund for Ireland - but also from the South Tyrone Area Partnership and Dungannon & South Tyrone Borough Council.”
The £650,000 project forms part of a £698,000 CRISP package funded by the Department for Social Development and the International Fund for Ireland who put in £332,000 and £366,000 respectively, with additional assistance from Dungannon & South Tyrone Borough Council and South Tyrone Area Partnership.
